Not everyone has a well-stocked vegan grocer around the corner or the time or ability to cook all of these great choices every day, but now everyone can get some of these wonderfully helpful items delivered right to your door. A few clicks of the mouse can be very convenient versus often having to drive a big hunk of metal in search of quality food choices. Having the UPS guy or gal drop off something at my place on his or her route, may not take more energy on a relative basis, your mileage may vary. Some items, for example those made with bananas or cocoa for chocolate or tea and coffee will just never be available locally for most people. Food diversity implies some non-locality, but local support to your neighborhood organic grocer, local farmer's markets, and area CSA farms is very important! Amazon Grocery and the great choices it makes available is another wonderful option that is helpful to many people. Expanding the market for producers and access to all (egalitarian, non-elitism) will increase the bounty of choices for everyone.

The more one can give with a bigger and more open heart, the more that love and energy can flow back to you, as energy flows in a circuit. And when people join their efforts together, the whole becomes something more than the sum of the individual efforts.Everyone is also encouraged to check out what the other vegancompassion Friends listed on the vegancompassion Amazon profile are doing. Diversity in human experience means it is not possible for everyone to agree on everything, but it is helpful to lend support to that which you do. True compassion is for everyone, for all beings including animals, not picking and choosing, and not with hatred, scorn, or divisiveness. Openness, like the sky, is beautiful. vegancompassion is about a belief in both compassion and helpfulness. If anyone has something they would like to have considered for sharing or has some feedback, please let me know. I also buy many vegan books and other stuff on Amazon, but will leave it to Friends and others to provide the reviews.

All beings benefit from loving-kindness shown to them, even animals. Although animals do not have the same ability to think as humans do, they can still perceive our intention. Animals live in fear of not finding food and water every day. I have tried to make a place where all the animals and birds can come and share food together. I put food and water out so many can eat together. I do not discriminate between any of the birds or animals. Any and all who are hungry are invited to come, an "equal opportunity" feeding center. All of these animals co-exist in and around with me and the other people living in a small town situated on the edge of a forest. It is beautiful to see bunnies, squirrels, doves, wrens, crows, deer, bluejays, and many others all eating together in peace. May the merit of this effort be shared will all who support it.

The demand for bio-fuels has also contributed to the dramatic rise in the cost of food for animals. I was "shocked" at one of my recent trips to the feed store. A 50# bag of peanut pickouts increased in price by almost 50%. I can't buy that anymore. Brought back another 50# bag of sunflower seeds and a 40# bag of birdseed which are greatly appreciated by all the friends.

Notes - Leading companies like Amy's put Vegan right on the ingredients label of those of their products which are vegan, or like Nana's have "No Eggs, No Dairy" on the package front of the vegan products, or like Betty Lou's have Vegan even right in some of the product names. Other companies are making vegan products and either don't label them as such or they are 'accidently vegan.' Good karma for them and more choices for us and people who care. Most companies including those making 'accidentily vegan' products usually make non-vegan products as well, so always check carefully. Certain kosher items that contain no dairy products are still labelled 'D' for dairy because they are made in a plant with equipment that is also used or shared for non-vegan products. Don't be fooled by 'Cruelty Free,' it doesn't necessarily always also mean vegan. For instance, a certain fairly well known brand with 'Bees' in the name uses honey and dairy in their products. When I looked at Mr. B.'s website, the folksy story about him said he also 'needed' a flock of chickens back on the 'ol farm. Everyone should still check the labels carefully and/or refer to the manufacturers' websites for the latest info because ingredients can sometimes get changed. If you find any product which has a possible 'vegan' or 'cruelty' problem, please let me know right away. Thanks Again and Have a Bright & Sunny Day!
